A week with Jacob...

So...we've actually done a decent job documenting things that Jacob has done this week... I've been trying to take better pictures and show just how grown up our "big guy" is getting. We can't believe that 18 months is just around the corner. Where does the time go???
This week we had our usual therapy sessions, but we managed to have some fun intermixed with all the "work" that we have to do. So here's the fun stuff...
This is a video of Jacob's "speedy" crawl. He can really move!!!

On Thursday we had Wrigley and Finley over for a few hours and managed to completely wreak havoc in the living room. But, all is well, it took about 5 minutes to put it back together. This is what Jacob decided to play with for all of 30 seconds...He's all over the place lately. Into everything. I wouldn't have it any other way! :)

This is Wrigley teaching Jacob how to use the piano. Finley is watching in the distance.

Looks like Finley is on his way to the door. He's making his way out...while Jacob is still trying to figure out who these kids are and why they're playing with his toys. :)

GG got Jacob this "big wheel" the last time we were in Atlanta. Jacob doesn't know how to push the pedals, but he rides around pretty well. He was having a good time with Daddy!

"See Jacob, you have to put your feet up here on the foot stand." He kept his feet up for a while, then put on the brakes!

Jacob riding the "Big Wheel!"

In the last post we told you how Jacob loves to get to the computer, so we put his out on the table for him to play with. Funny!

He got tired of the computer and decided to head over to the other toys...

...when he was done with the toys it was off to the kitchen for some "spinning" around....this takes some SERIOUS skills people!!!

And then...he went back to the computer...

Jacob can do all the hand motions to "If you're happy and you know it" when prompted...kinda cute. This one's long and only for the "MOST DEDICATED" readers. :) Hee Hee.

These are visors that Gramma Tuley got for Jacob...

...this is what we decided to do with them... :)

Most nights this is how Jacob and "Pup-Pup" play. They really love each other!

Jacob stands at his bedroom window and looks out at the birds...that's he and Jackson's favorite pasttime...

Uncle Biggie called us and said that he was coming through and wondered if we would meet him at the airport. Today he flew from Atlanta to our hometown, then flies to Cancun and back to our hometown, stays the night, and then off to another place tomorrow. We're meeting him for dinner tonight too! How fun! It's always great to see Uncle Biggie!

After meeting Uncle Biggie, we headed to the downtown library for a family "puppet" show. There were no puppets this time...it was more like a play. Jacob thought the people dressed up in character were interesting... this picture makes me laugh. He did have a good time...promise.
This is a picture of the inside of the puppet theater...Jeff is holding Jacob in his lap...

during the show...

We're having a great time spending time together as a family. Praise God that he brought us this far! What a Miracle!

A Little "Love" and a Little Dancin'

Isn't that the sweetest picture you've ever seen? This is how Jacob and Jackson like to "hug" or "give him love" as we call it. I will tell Jacob to hug Jackson (AKA: pup-pup), and Jacob will get down on the floor and lay on top of him. So sweet. Although Jackson doesn't seem to think it's so fun in this picture. His eyes are saying, "Help me..." :)

This is what Jacob's face looks like when he's about to go for the computer keys. I wonder what he's thinking??? He loves climbing over to the table, standing up, and reaching for the computer. Think he takes after Jeff???? ;) We've had to move the computer to the middle of the table just so he can't reach it. Soon enough he's going to be learning how to climb on top of the chair and table to get to it.... :)

This is a GEM of a video. I love to play music around the house and usually Jacob dances with his hands (take a look at the second video for that), but this time he was dancing like this....

Thanks for checking in with us. Have a fun filled, dancin' day!

Pool Time

Thanks to our friends David and Jennifer, we were able to go to the YMCA pool a few days last week. We have been wanting to get Jacob into a pool for a while but don't really have easy access to one. So, when they asked if we wanted to go, we said YES! :) Thanks D and J.

Here's a pic of Sam and Jennifer, and Jacob and me.

Jacob playing on the chair while we wait to get back into the pool. This pool was amazing...it has slides for little kids, a big water tank that fills up and then dumps water out on the kids, and all kinds of water "adventures" to participate in. What fun!

Jeff and Jacob playing in the water fountains.

A family shot!

It was hard to get Jacob smiling in any of the pictures. He did really enjoy the fountains, especially when the water sprayed all over when he tried to grab it. He was cautious about everything, but maybe as we get into the water more, he'll smile a little more for pictures! :)
Have a great day!

Happy 4th of July!

Although this was not Jacob's first 4th, it was his first time to see fireworks on the 4th. So it was monumental for us! Many of you are probably wondering...how did he do??? Well, there's a couple of videos at the end of this post of him during the fireworks display, but I didn't catch his first reaction in the videos. He heard the big booms before he got the lights and colors, so he was pretty scared and cried for about 10 seconds, but once he saw the lights, he watched them very intently. I think we'll be doing it again next year!!! Here's some photos from the day.
Our family photo. We are still working on getting Jacob to smile for these...so this was the best we could get!

We went to the Belle Meade Country Club and sat on their driving range and waited for the show to start. It was a great show. It lasted about 20-30 minutes and we were close enough that we felt the "showers" from the fireworks. The good thing about this show is that the traffic getting home wasn't bad, and it was close to home too. The only thing missing is coordinating patriotic music. So if any members of "The Club" are reading...maybe you can suggest that for next year! :) Here's a picture of the whole group...Chris, Pam, John, Tracy, Jeff, Sam B., Jacob, and Chris. What a fun evening!

Jeff and Jacob before the fireworks show. Jacob had a good time shaking his American flag.

Julie and Jacob waiting for the show to begin.

Beautiful!

Here's the video I promised! I hope it makes you feel as if you were right there with us enjoying his first 4th of July fireworks show!

Thanks for checking in with us. Have a wonderful day!

First Movie

On Friday night we took Jacob to see his first movie in the theater. We were not sure how he would do, since we've never really even watched movies at home with him. But, he did AMAZING. We asked our friends Jackie and Mike to go with us, and we thought for sure that Jacob would last maybe 30-45 minutes, and either fall asleep or need to be taken out. However, once the movie started he was sucked in like a magnet to a fridge. :) He did go back and forth between his seat and our laps, but watched the entire movie. A couple times he would look at us in amazement and smiling so big, almost as if he was saying, "Can we get a TV like this at home?"

Here's a few pictures of the evening. Jacob wanting to climb over the seats before the movie started...

The three of us in front of the movie poster at the end of the night. You can see that Jacob got a little tired toward the end. By the time we got home he was completely asleep. He didn't even wake up when we were getting him into his jammies. :)

Thanks for checking in with us. If you haven't seen Toy Story 3....you're in for a real treat! Me querido Buzz Lightyear!

Hot-Lanta

We spent the past week in Atlanta, also known as Hot-Lanta because it was soooooo HOT. According to the local Atlantans, this weather was unseasonably warm, and felt more like August rather than June. Nevertheless, we made the best of the weather, and stayed inside alot of the time. We got to spend some really great time with the Tuley family. Although I have very few pictures of the family with Jacob, I do have pictures of some of the things we did while we were there. Hope you enjoy the many pics!
Here's Gramma Tuley and Jacob riding a train in the mall. Jacob wasn't too sure about leaving Mom, but he did really good and even got an extra ticket for another ride later. What a fun ride!
Here's a video of Jacob and Gramma riding the train. Fun!

We also rode the Carosel that is in the food court of the mall. Here's Gramma holding on tight so Jacob wouldn't fall.

After we rode the carosel, we went to the Build-a-Bear Workshop and made a Puppy come to life. Jacob stepped on the lever to add the stuffing, gave his puppy an air bath, and picked out a leash for his new puppy. Jacob even got to put the "heart" into his puppy. Here's a picture of that!

Here's Jacob and Gramma picking up the puppy from the floor. Jacob thought he would see if the puppy could walk himself. :)
On Thursday we met with Graham and Ashley Scobey of Scobey Photography to take some pictures of Jacob and me for a present for Jeff for Father's Day. After the photoshoot, we decided to let Jacob play in the fountain. What a FUN time for Jacob. By the time I finished taking pictures he was SOAKED!!! See how the water was kicked so hard that his shirt was splashed all the way to his chest! Ha!

Wonder what he's thinking????

Here's Jacob enjoying a popsicle!

Um...yummy!!!!!

Like I said, it was SOOOOO hot outside, that we decided a nice dip in the baby pool would cool us both off. Jacob had a great time throwing the ball down into the water and making a big splash. I think what he liked more was me making a noise everytime. He loves loud noises.

Jacob got a Big Wheel and we decided to use the box for a makeshift tunnel. After a few tries, he decided that he liked climbing through the "tunnel" to get to the other side. Here's a picture that Gramma got of Jacob as he was climbing through to her!

On Friday morning Jacob had a "play date" with his friend Hudson. Hudson is a few months older than Jacob and walking and climbing everywhere. We think they had fun playing together, and think they'll be good friends!

The boys and their mamas. Hudson was so busy playing in the water. He did a great job showing Jacob how to really make a splash!

This is how they played most of the day...they interacted more with the toys than with each other. But, that may change the next time they have a play date....

Gramma and Chappy got Jacob his very own chair to have in the living room. What a Big Boy!

Here's Jacob watching his FAVORITE show, Super Why, in his chair. He is really Loungin' now!

Take a look at this picture! He's the poster child for "Couch Potatoes!" I promise, this is the only TV show we ever watch during the day!!!!

I'll leave you with this video of Jacob. He had quite a good time climbing the stairs at Gramma and Chappy's house. He would take off from the living room or kitchen and you knew exactly where he was heading....for these stairs. He got really good at climbing!!!!

Thanks for checking in with us. If you read this entire post, either you're way too dedicated, you love Jacob a ton, or you have nothing better to do with your time. Ha! Either way, hope it was enjoyable! Have a blessed day!

Now-a-days

This is what our life looks like now-a-days. We're watching Jacob as he crawls around everywhere, getting the ball to throw it to Jackson, etc. If he's not crawling, he's pulling up on the furniture, cruising around it to get to what he wants, and sitting back down again to be on the move once again. He can "walk" with assistance, but lacks the core strength to balance enough and have confidence to take any first steps. But they're on their way, that's for sure! :) He is always on the move, and we wouldn't have it any other way. However, it sure makes it hard to get pictures of the little (big) guy.

So...since we don't have many pictures of him, we'll show you some pictures of the hydrangeas that we cut from our yard this year. This has been the best year for our plants. We're enjoying them, that's for sure.

Sorry that we don't have more to update...stay tuned though, cause Jacob and Mommy are going to Atlanta this week (daddy will meet us later) to spend some time with family. Pray that Jacob stays healthy, since we'll be away from the doctors that are familiar with him. Thanks for checking in with us. Have a blessed day!

The next "new thing"

Didn't you know there's a new way to hold a pacifier? Yes, apparently, biting it with the sides of your mouth is the "new thing." Jacob is always "in the know" when it comes to style changes!
Hope this made you smile. Thanks for checking in with us. Have a smiley day and always be on the look out for the next "new thing!"
